ORGANIC DAIRY OPERATION

This Maramarua farming enterprise is committed to environmentally sound management and optimum quality. The organically-certified dairy farm has developed QA systems to meet the AsureQuality Organic Standard V5 and USDA National Organic Programme. Set in an idyllic location, the farm covers 54.7775 hectares (more or less), two thirds of which is flat, with the balance medium rolling. The soil comprises Waerenga clay and silt loams. \n\nBased on systems and practices that foster beneficial processes, the unit is fully self-contained. Everything is grown and grazed on using cultural, biological and mechanical methods that are sustainable, humane and non-polluting.\n\nCurrently milking 84 cows, production for 2013/14 was 20,548kgMS. Previous was 20,998kgMS for 2012/13 and 23,306kgMS for the 2011/12 season.\n\nSupplements made on the farm during 2013/14 included 4.84ha of silage, 2.15ha of greenfeed maize and 304 bales of hay. \n\nThe property is bounded by 8 wire post and batten. Internal fencing is 70 per cent 2 wire electrical. \n\nThere is bore water and an Anderson deep well pump on site. The Grunfos surface HP pump was renewed in September 2013. Buildings include a 14-aside herringbone shed, a large wintering barn and implement shed with workshop and garage. \n\nOffering ample accommodation, three dwellings nestle on the farm including a four bedroom, three bedroom and two bedroom home. The main residence, set slightly off the road, features a separate kitchen, lounge and dining, with good in/outdoor flow to an alfresco entertainment area. Fruit trees are plentiful.\n\nLying in a picturesque valley backdropped by Maramarua State Forest and in close proximity of diverse lifestyle attractions, the location is superb. Opportunities abound for golfers, hunters, equestrians, trampers, trail bike riders and anglers. Maramarua Golf Course, the reputable Maramarua Hunt Club and State Highway 2 are minutes away. Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga and Coromandel Peninsula, including Kaiaua for fishing, are all in easy commuting distance.\n
