Eastbourne
Eastbourne originally developed as a seaside holiday township, but with the improved transport routes is now a retirement and commuter residential area for Wellington and the Hutt Valley.

Eastbourne is approximately 20 kilometers from Wellington on the opposite side of Port Nicholson. Muritai Road is the main arterial road of Eastbourne and runs from Days Bay to the southern end of the district at Burdan gate. The sweeping drive runs through the middle of Eastbourne with the beach and wharf on one side, and the hillside on the other. There are a range of service shops near the beginning of Rona Bay in Rimu Street. Novelty boutiques cater for weekenders and there are also several restaurants, cafes and a wine bar. Oroua Street runs from Rimu Street, parallel with Muritai Road and Marine Parade and in this street can be found the Muritai School, an Antonio School and the Eastbourne Recreation Ground.
Suburban bus services are available to Wellington and the Hutt Valley. There is also a ferry between Wellington and Days Bay.
