But if it is adventure you are looking for you are sure to find plenty in one of the regions three national parks; Abel Tasman, Nelson lakes, Kahurangi lakes, and Farewell spit, an international wildlife sanctuary. Nelson has a sound economic base of fishing, forestry, horticulture and tourism, with the largest fishing port in Australasia. Logs, timber and horticultural produce are shipped direct to the world. Local tourism icons have been well branded and are recognized internationally helping productivity to continuously increase making Nelson one of the fastest growing region in New Zealand.
