NORTH OF AUCKLAND RESIDENTIAL REPORT 2008

AUGUST 2008

  • 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 |

Market Overview

The North of Auckland region, spanning from the Whangaparaoa peninsular, west toward Orewa and north along the beautiful eastern coastline to Mangawhai, provides a wide range of residential opportunities in an area offering lifestyle benefits, stunning sea views and a pleasant climate whilst also having easy access to Auckland City.

The North of Auckland residential property market has experienced strong demand for housing over the past 5 years and a significant contributory factor has been the population growth and commercial development in North Shore City spilling over into the North of Auckland region. Consequently North Shore employees have sought housing opportunities locally and further on in the attractive North of Auckland region. The North of Auckland usually resident population has grown considerably with the Rodney District increasing by 17.5% between 2001 and 2006, compared with national growth of 7.78% over the same period.

Intensive infrastructural upgrades over the past few years such as the northern motorway extension from Silverdale to Orewa and the more recent completion of the Upper Harbour motorway extension to State Highway 16 have allowed for faster and easier access between the Auckland and North of Auckland regions. Current infrastructural developments include the motorway extension from Orewa to Puhoi and the Penlink Project providing a connection between the Northern motorway across the Weiti River to Whangaparaoa.
