Since entering the Auckland metropolitan residential market in 2000, Charles has sold some 320 homes for over $230,000,000. Until 2010, Charles held the distinction of having sold the highest price house in Auckland City for at least 5 years. He has owned and operated his own real estate agencies in Auckland (Ponsonby) and Sydney (Double Bay). Preferring to focus his energy, enthusiasm and experience on sales and marketing functions on his “home turf,” he and Bayleys joined forces in 2005. Right from the start, Charles has performed as the Eastern Bays office’s leading salesperson and in the top bracket of Bayleys Auckland salespeople. As a Top 5% Bayleys salesperson (Bayleys highest recognition award), Charles in one of a very limited number of Bayleys Auckland City Residential salespeople to be so recognised. Awarded nation-wide across some 57 offices, most recipients are Bayleys Commercial, Industrial, Lifestyle and Farm sales specialists: areas in which Bayleys are brand leaders. Prior to joining up with Bayleys, Charles achieved Top 2% Salesperson and Top New Zealand Office awards with the Professionals nation-wide co-operative, of which he was an owner. A WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE, A CONSISTENT TALENT FOR ACHIEVING RECORD PRICES. Charles has marketed and sold waterfront properties and mansions in Auckland’s Eastern Suburbs, Eastern Bays and Central Western Bays. He made his first multi-million dollar residential sale in 1980 whilst working in Jersey in his 20’s. In Britain and France, New South Wales, Queensland, Fiji and Canterbury, Charles developed, marketed and sold waterfront homes, manor houses, investment properties, apartment blocks, farming enterprises, businesses, tourism enterprises and notable country estates. Selling throughout Central Auckland, since 2000 Charles has achieved many suburb and street new record prices throughout the Auckland isthmus. Whether it’s a mansion today or an investment unit tomorrow, he brings the same total, professional focus to bear for each and every client. RELISHING THE CHALLENGES Charles enjoys the challenges of real estate, which he sees as understanding, really understanding, the questions being asked of him. With that understanding, solutions are often quite straightforward, despite the widest variety of complex issues that clients and buyers alike present to him on a daily basis. An observer of the human condition and widely knowledgeable in real estate matters, he is just as comfortable problem solving for first homebuyers as he is working alongside the seriously wealthy. PERSONAL PROFILES Charles pursued his long time ambition to become involved in politics, taking a 2 year sabbatical in 1998-2000. He stood for Parliament in 1999 in an unwinnable South Auckland seat and was for many years an Electorate Chairman in central Auckland. In 2001, he was elected by the voters of Auckland’s Eastern Suburbs to represent them on the Auckland District Health Board as centre-right Team Leader. “Politics taught me humility”, says Charles, “and that’s a pretty good idea for anyone, let alone a real estate agent! Door knocking some 5,000 residents in a low income electorate, listening to their hopes, aspirations and deep seated problems was an eye opener for which I will always be grateful.” Now retired from politics, Charles and Sally work from home offices in St Heliers. They enjoy moments of precious free time nurturing their garden, reading history, observing fashions and following rugby and yachting. Charles and Sally have brought up five children. Since returning to Auckland in 1997, they have owned homes in Mission Bay, Kohimarama and Remuera Their young adults now live in Wellington, London, Sydney, Canberra and rural New South Wales. A FAMILY OF COMMITTED REAL ESTATE AGENTS Sally is a licensed Real Estate Salesperson of note in her own right and also assists Charles in administrative areas. Those who know Sally become friends. They instantly recognise her caring manner, her welcoming attitude and an ever present charm. Her inter-personal skills are such that clients, buyers and tenants warm to her instantly. Running a professional real estate family for many years, Sally understands the challenges and revels in the opportunity to find homes to suit our clients’ buyers. Their youngest son, Oliver Lowndes AREINZ, is presently furthering his sales and marketing career in Sydney. Oliver chose to follow in the family footsteps and joined his father in 2003 after a successful year at Auckland University and a strong record at Kings College. Determined to pursue real estate as a professional career, he studied real estate at Massey University part time in 2005 and 2006. Having achieved a very high pass rate, he was elected one of the youngest ever Associates of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (AREINZ). Oliver now holds the highest available professional real estate qualification in New Zealand and is a Licensed Agent in his own right under the Real Estate Agents Act 2008. |
