Marlborough is a dynamic region, a province unique in its contrasts.

The long sheltered waterways of the Marlborough Sounds, the gateway to New Zealand’s South Island, the expansive Wairau Plains with ripening vines that disappear into a summer haze. Kaikoura’s rugged Pacific coastline dwarfed by sheer mountains, and the valleys, Wairau, Awatere, and Clarence, wide and long, driving inland splitting and dividing the landscape.

Marlborough is wine, Marlborough is aquaculture, Marlborough is boats, sea and whales.

With over 15000 hectares in vines, Marlborough makes up New Zealand's largest viticulture area and is recognized as one of the world’s finest wine regions. Marlborough's Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir & Chardonnay are internationally acclaimed.

Molesworth Station in the Awatere Valley is the largest farm in the country running up to 10,000 head of cattle.

Aquaculture is a booming industry in the Marlborough Sounds exporting green lipped mussels, oysters, and salmon. In the same sounds there are predator free islands that are home to some of the worlds rarest species.

Kaikoura’s rich marine environment draws visitors from all around the world to whale watch and dolphin swim. These adventures are complimented with the province’s local fare.

In summer the sun shines long hot and dry with average temperatures around 22 degrees centigrade (71 degrees fahrenheit) with average winter temperatures dropping to 10 degrees centigrade (32 degrees fahrenheit).

Both the provinces of Marlborough and adjoining Nelson, located at the top of the South Island, are now the fastest growing regions in New Zealand.
