Catalina Bay is an idyllic waterfront location where award winning developers Willis Bond have just completed the first stage of a multi-stage rejuvenation of the historic wharf area.

Six former air force buildings that once housed and serviced Catalina and Sunderland flying boats during WWII are being restored into a mix of character office, food and beverage as well as retail premises. Future stages will include 70-80 high end apartments and further mixed use commercial.

One of the largest buildings; the Catalina Workshop has just completed its transformation into world class character office space. The walls of the building have been opened up with extensive glazing, flooding the premises with natural light. A mezzanine level has also been added, fully realizing the panoramic sea views. Already partially leased, there is still an opportunity for a visionary tenant to secure the final tenancy.

A similar transformation has been undertaken to the smaller GRP building with a high pitched roof that has excellent exposure to foot traffic from the adjacent ferry terminal, providing excellent branding opportunity for its occupier.

Due for completion at the end of 2018 is the impressive Sunderland Hangar. This building was constructed with a state- of-the-art, lightweight-steel roof truss system, leaving the interior free of supporting posts so it could accommodate large planes. This has allowed the incorporation of a full-height void at the entrance way, providing an incredible sense of space for visitors and occupiers of the mezzanine offices.

The ground floor of the building has already been secured by Australian craft brewer Little Creatures who will establish both their New Zealand spiritual home and micro-brewery with restaurant. The remaining mezzanine would suit a large tenant looking for a unique space or a co-working operation.
