Weekends can be spent biking through the Hauraki Rail Trail, which goes through the Karangahake Gorge featuring a 1km tunnel filled with glo-worms. With Waihi Beach near by this makes the ideal place to cool off in the warmer summer months. Main centres, Hamilton and Tauranga are under 79km away.
