The History

An incredibly rare chance to acquire some wonderful history that dates back to 1905 when Anthony Joseph Vidal bought the land, converted the stables to a cellar and planted grapevines. In 1979 Sir George Fistonich established New Zealand's first winery restaurant when it was opened by the then prime minister of New Zealand the right Honourable R. D Muldoon on Wednesday the 9th May 1979 - setting the trend which has now gone on to be commonplace in all of New Zealands wine-producing regions. Since then, the 120-person restaurant has 38 years of trading history! With globally award-winning wines produced on site.

The Winery

The winery has in the past produced 1,200 tons of wine per season - equivalent to approximately 75,000 cases. With its current equipment, it has scaled back to around 500-600 tons p.a. There is ample opportunity to increase your own case production through vineyard expansion and/or sourcing of additional wine grapes from growers. The winery is directly beside the tasting room and is of an open, simple and flexible design.

The Restaurant

The restaurant and function centre consist of approximately 600sqm of ground level space as follows: 400sqm of climate-controlled restaurant with capacity to seat 120 people; an outdoor courtyard area of about 80sqm; and a spacious, fully equipped commercial-grade kitchen.

Residential Development

The total area of land consists of 10,454sqm of residential zoning. Upon which, there are six residential houses/units on site with current income of $52,000. As some of the housing is reserved for staff there is a further potential income stream of $41,600pa. With a high shortage of residential dwelling within Hawke's Bay the underlining residential zoning of the winery will be of interest to residential developers or future upside.
