Fattening and Forestry

UNDER OFFER

This North Canterbury hill property is a stand-out example of technology, production and profitability, from a management system not generally expected in this area or on this contour. The 646.9667 hectare bareland hill property is in two titles and includes 110 hectares which have been operating a techno system, fattening and finishing bull-beef. In 2017 749 R2 bulls and 156 R1 bulls were wintered. This innovative management system earned the Vendors the runner-up to the South Island Lincoln University Farmer of the Year in 2008 for meat production. In 2005 they were the Meat and Wool Focus Farm topic for Hill Country Beef Finishing.

This system is supported by the rest of the property's strengths, allowing strategically planted and located forestry, with a mature block of trees ready for harvest. The accumulated carbon credits are included in the sale. With the future requirement for carbon sequestering and the outlook for forestry, this property is extremely well positioned for the future. The balance of the property is very clean hill country.

The farm is well subdivided, has an ample stock water supply, good fences, very good road and track access and two woolsheds. A small woolshed on the hill block is ideal for crutching and the larger, two-stand main woolshed and yards is on a 13.7ha block very close by. This block also provides a stunning building site.

This is a very simply run, low-cost and productive hill block in a great location, which is well regarded for stock health and performance and it has the advantage of future upside through forestry and further subdivision.
