Reuben’s path into real estate has been a little different. Before joining Bayleys Whangārei, he spent eight years in a lead role on Shortland Street, developing strong communication skills and an understanding of people. It taught Reuben how to read a room, understand different personalities and stay composed under pressure. Those skills have naturally carried into real estate, particularly negotiation. For Reuben, good negotiation starts with understanding people. Knowing when to listen, ask the right question, hold firm or find common ground can make all the difference to the outcome.

His television background has also given Reuben a strong understanding of storytelling and presentation, which he brings to property marketing. With an established social media presence and confidence in front of the camera, he can create engaging content that helps properties stand out and reach buyers.

More recently, Reuben worked with primary and intermediate-aged children across Whangārei, delivering mental health and sports programmes through local schools including Parua Bay School, Whangārei Heads School, Raurimu Avenue School and Hikurangi School. The experience strengthened his patience and ability to build relationships.

A Maunu local, Reuben knows Whangārei as home. Outside of real estate, you’ll find him at Northland Golf Club in Kamo, running around Riverside and the Hātea Loop, exploring the Onerahi, Waimahanga Track or fishing on the Northland coast.
