Dean is Bayleys Manawatu-Wanganui Regional General Manager & Country Team Manager for the Region and is based in the Feilding and Palmerston North Offices. Dean’s role as Regional Manager sees him oversee operations for all divisions of the Bayleys Manawatu-Wanganui region, assisting the various divisional managers within this region.
Dean has a specialised knowledge of farms and lifestyle blocks in the Manawatu and Horowhenua & Kapiti areas. He has an extensive rural background, including his previous role as a livestock buyer in the same area which has given him an extensive list of rural contacts.
Born and educated in Gisborne, Dean attended Taratahi Agricultural Training Farm after leaving High School and prior to entering the dairy industry in South Taranaki. This saw him work his way through from a general farm worker, to sharemilking, and certainly gave him a strong affinity with the dairy industry.
His previous experience as a livestock buyer spans back to 1996, in the Taranaki, Manawatu and Horowhenua regions. Prior to this he worked for 10 years as a Policeman in Rural Taranaki and has developed an in depth knowledge of all things effecting rural communities.
With the interaction in the rural community over this time, Dean has built an excellent rapport with many farmers and rural professionals, and has built a large networking database of prospective clients, as well as good rural contacts throughout the country.
Dean and his wife Lea previously lived on their lifestyle property in Shannon and now reside in Feilding. Lea has joined Dean to work in the Bayleys team as well. After initially working alongside Dean and specialising predominantly in the marketing of Lifestyle properties within this region, Lea is now focused on both Residential and Lifestyle properties. Together they provide an invaluable service and strong level of commitment, combining their natural strengths and knowledge for the benefit of their clients. They have an adult family scattered about the Lower North Island.
Outside of work Dean is heavily involved in Rugby, having been a player, coach and administrator for many years. Currently he holds the position of Chairman/President in the Shannon Rugby Club; having been on the Committee since his arrival in the district in 1998. He played his last game of competitive rugby in 2010. Lea is also involved in the Shannon Rugby Club and currently holds the role of Treasurer.
At the end of 2014 Dean was elected as President of the Horowhenua-Kapiti RFU and was also awarded the prestigious Charles Monro Trophy at the Steinlager NZ Rugby awards for Volunteer/Administrator of the year for 2014.
Dean also holds the position of President with Horowhenua Boys & Girls Agricultural Club, who are responsible for the overall running of Lamb & Calf Days throughout the Horowhenua area. He has been on the Committee for the Agricultural Club since 1999. Both Dean & Lea are very community minded and have been involved in a number of fundraising ventures including Make a Wish.
Dean finds his role in the Bayleys Team extremely satisfying and has the support of not only his local team but also the expertise and support of the complete Bayleys Group.
Working with Bayleys experienced team of professionals and their national databases gives Dean and Lea very strong support and coverage, along with advertising in the Spring and Autumn Country magazines (reaching a broad national and international audience), as well as the regular franchise publications and the Bayleys website.
