My elderly Mother wanted to sell her large family home and downsize to a smaller unit and had met Jean at an open home for a property she was listing. I live in Auckland and I wanted someone I could trust looking after Mum as she is recently widowed and I didn’t want her being taken advantage of. Mum asked me if she could use Jean who she remembered from the open home. I rang Jean and spoke with her at length and on the phone she seemed very pleasant. She then officially met mum and prepared a report for potentially listing Mum’s house. Jean she also sent me her report and we spoke at length about the house, it’s challenges and my mother. At both times she came across as being very professional but crucially she ‘got’ my Mum. She understood my Mum needed someone who was patient and kind and was not pushy. We obviously chose Jean to list the house and she helped Mum move at her pace and that was critical in the relationship. There were things to sort in order to list the house and Jean was wonderful helping Mum decide and dispose of furniture and even got the front door repaired. The fact that Mum embraced the suggested changes is evidence of Jean’s ability to influence and guide mum to ultimately sell her house in its best way. The end result was a sale above the price expectations so we couldn't have been happier. Covid 19 came along and interrupted the moving out. Again during this extended period Jean stayed in touch with Mum and I, going above and beyond to ensure Mum was ok. Jean’s care not only sold Mum’s house but helped guide my mum through a difficult time. Jean was invaluable at being able to lead the process without being pushy and never did we feel we were simply a transaction. I cannot recommend Jean more highly and wanted to send this email to recognise her quiet efforts behind the scenes.
