There are no limits or boundaries to what you can achieve throughout your career in real estate with an uncapped income potential. Whether you choose to be a licensed real estate sales person specialising in residential,  commercial and industrial, or country real estate sales, the pathways are varied and exciting. And so too is your earning potential.

To work as a sales person in Real Estate you will need to complete the National Certificate in Real Estate (Salesperson).

What this means for you

The Bayleys Property College offers the national certificate in real estate as required by the REAA.

The first step in the process is to enquire if there is a vacancy in the office of your choice.  The Manager of the relevant Bayleys office will act as your point of contact to the industry while completing the course. Once you have obtained your real estate license the expectation is  that you would join their team as an independent contractor and commence your real estate sales career.

There are other options for obtaining your Real Estate license 

There are other service providers to choose from when deciding who to complete your qualification with. All providers offer similar versions of the course as directed by the Skills Organisation. However the providers vary in the way they deliver content to students.

  • Unitech - cost approx. $1800: 12 week block classroom course. Courses start at set times throughout the year.

  • Open Polytech - cost approx. $1400: Self study course with the optional classroom lessons. Classroom courses state at set times throughout the year.

  • Bayleys Property College - cost $1095 inc GST: Once you have the undertaking of a Bayleys Manager to put you through the sales person course you will sign a training contract with the Skills Organisation which is also co- signed by Bayleys  and you can start your course whenever you are ready as the course is completed online. Bayleys use training resources developed by the Skills Organisation which is responsible for the best in quality assurance, as they are the standard setting body for the real estate industry.

When you have gained your qualification you can then apply to the Real Estate Agents Authority for your real estate license.  All up this can take from six weeks to four months to complete.

More information on the National Certificate in Real Estate (Salesperson) 

This is the qualification a person must hold before they are entitled to apply for a salesperson’s licence.

Successful completion of this qualification ensures you meet the licensing requirements to obtain a salespersons’ licence to sell property in New Zealand. The qualification will provide you with the essential skills and knowledge you need to know to appraise the value of property and to sell property in New Zealand. It also covers the important legal requirements, to ensure you have the knowledge to bring about a sale or transaction that meets the client and customer needs set out in the law.
