Choosing a sale method for offshore
Bayleys has successfully sold property to offshore buyers using a full range of sales methods from those with a timeframe (auction and tender) through to properties that are for sale with an asking price.
Many offshore purchasers have relatives or business associates in New Zealand and will often get them to check the offering out and sometimes negotiate on their behalf. It is not uncommon for an offshore purchaser to buy a property without inspecting it.
If you are marketing a larger, more complex property which we think would benefit from offshore exposure then we will normally recommend a longer timeframe than may be normal for the New Zealand market to allow prospective purchasers to undertake the necessary due diligence. The more quality information you can provide to assist with this process, the more chance you have of securing a sale.
