About Lex

Lex Chapman began his real estate career in 1981 in Rangiora after a long working life as a topdressing pilot with Airwork NZ Ltd. During his aviation career he covered a large area of the country, finally moving into a role as operations manager which gave him a sound knowledge of the rural environment.

Lex joined Bayleys Real Estate group in Bob Davison''s Rangiora office with the launch of Bayleys Country in 1999. He is consistently one of the top agents in the North Canterbury area and works closely and professionally with all his clients.

Lex is an extremely experienced real estate consultant. He has owned and operated his own real estate business prior to joining Bayleys and during that time obtained a Diploma in Business Studies from Massey University. He is also an Associate Member of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (AREINZ), having passed all the required examinations in 1995.

Since joining Bayleys, Lex has been involved in over 150 property transactions totalling over NZ$100 million. He has established a large international database from which he has achieved excellent results.

The rural market has shown the effects of the world recession and tightening finanical market over the last 12-18 months. However, we are starting to see signs of a recovery in the world commodity prices. Which inturn reflects in the demand we now see for rural properties and the interest being generated from genuine off-shore buyers with the favourable exchange rate of the NZ dollar.

Lex specialises in country properties from lifestyle blocks of under 100 acres, to full scale farms - including high country runs, viticultural blocks, sheep and cattle, mixed cropping, deer and dairy units. He works predominantly within Canterbury and Marlborough.
