Paul Brown & Associates together with Macintosh Harris have crafted a classic contemporary design inspired by the materiality and proportions of local heritage architecture. Perched along a natural ridgeline with a north west outlook, Ode reveals sweeping views of Auckland's skyline, the Waitemata Harbour and Rangitoto Island. Large, uninterrupted windows frame these vistas inviting natural light to fill living spaces. Triple glazing enhances the sense of sanctuary, offering warmth, quiet and privacy to daily living. Informed by key concepts of utility, strength and beauty, the refined design honours the prestige and character of Remuera, befitting a prominent corner site and enhancing the neighbourhood. These apartments are designed not just for today but to enrich the lives of future residents for generations to come. Brick and stone dominate the exterior palette, chosen for their enduring quality and natural beauty. Complementing these textured and tonal materials, large, sleek joinery adds an elegant counterpart, resulting in an aesthetically balanced and sophisticated design.

The elevation approach comprises a public-facing and a rear facade. The public-facing facade is wrapped in brick and stone like a 'veil', punctuating larger contemporary glass elements and interior spaces. This formal and rhythmic design wraps the corner site, with stepped columns and slim metal screens providing rich, ornate detailing. A bronze spandrel between levels two and three breaks the brick facade, enhancing the sense of verticality and echoing the floating canopy on the penthouse level. the rear elevation is more solid, scaled down, and simplified to respond to the nature of the private residences.

On the eastern side of the building is a shared courtyard with in-built seating and BBQ facilities. The thoughtfully designed landscape offers distinct zones, allowing several groups to enjoy the area simultaneously.

In keeping with the neighbourhood, a scoria wall forms the base of the building, creating a strong edge to the footpath. The ground floor is elevated above street level to maximise privacy and views. Layered planting and manicured trees add texture and depth to the podium, while a sweeping stair marks an inviting building entrance from Remuera Rd.
