In 2008/2009, this 324.1585 hectares (more or less) property was converted into a dairy farm and run in conjunction with a leased block of 147ha, which adjoins the property. Its first season of operation was 2009/10, when it produced 226,000kgMS. In the four seasons, 2014-18, this has increased to an average around 283,000kgMS from around 890 cows. This season the budget is for 300,000kgMS from approximately 940 cows.
The adjoining leased property holds an irrigation consent for 78 litres per second out of the Selwyn River, which currently provides irrigation to about 150ha of K-line. Approximately 125ha on the platform and 25ha on the lease land.
Recent events in the dairy environment has lead to the property adjusting their policy in terms of cow numbers and use of supplements. However, there are other suitable land-use opportunities, particularly fattening beef, which would also suit the property.
It is offered for sale in conjunction with a lease of the neighbouring property which would retain access to irrigation water as consented, stock water and 147ha of good pasture. This lease expires in 2024.
