Open Days: Tues 17 Mar, Thurs 19 Mar, Tues 24 Mar 12-1pm.This 51 hectare dairy unit close to the Waihi town boundary has possibilities written all over it. Currently milking 150 cows with calves off from December 1st and cows wintered on the farm, production this season is on track for the mid-seventies. Farms in this region have always been keenly sought after as traditionally they are summer safe and have a manageable ash soil type.
The contour is a mix of around 50% flat to easy with the balance rolling to hill and nearly the entire property grazable. The races fan out from the 16 aside dairy, which is nicely elevated, to 43 paddocks. The fencing is a mix of 2-5 wire electric internally with the boundary being mostly 7 wire post and batten. With road frontage onto three roads most of the farm can be viewed from the driver's seat.
With auto meal feeders in the dairy last season 140 tonne of wheat bran and PKE mix was used. Wrapped silage is made on farm when there is surplus feed.
The dairy shed is supported by a 3 bay gable shed nearby and an implement shed adjacent to the dwelling. Beautiful clean water is provided via a bore to a manacon and pressure pumped to all parts of the farm with troughs in all paddocks and mostly 25mm alkathene lines.
No cropping has been done in recent years although an under sowing regime has been implemented to assist pasture renewal.
The dairy, though older, works well and effluent is gravity into a pond from where it is pumped to a travelling irrigator covering around eight hectares.
The dwelling is a very tidy three bedroom home with nice open plan living. An adjoining double garage also has a separate laundry.
This property presents a great opportunity for a sharemilker to start farm ownership or as a feeder unit for a larger dairy if required.
A great location with Waihi only a couple of minutes away and the beach just a little further. The young owners are moving up to a larger farm and are seriously for sale.
