Upcoming developments in the Christchurch rebuild and the working relationships between the three rebuild agencies will be the focus of the next Bayleys@5 event on 17 August.
Guest speaker Steve Clarke, who is director of investment and engagement at Development Christchurch Ltd, will be back at Bayleys@5 after a highly popular presentation in July 2016.
Bayleys Canterbury commercial and industrial manager, Justin Haley, says participants will be interested in hearing first-hand about the working relationships between Development Christchurch Ltd, Otakaro Limited, and Regenerate Christchurch.
The three entities were formed to replace the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA) when it was disestablished in April, last year.
“We expect the people at the event will be a mix of local property professionals, commercial property owners and developers,” he says. “They’ll be looking for confirmation that these three organisations are communicating and working together in the right direction.”
Steve Clarke says the role of the three agencies is important and he hopes the discussion will provide “some level of comfort” about how the various city institutions and recovery agents interact with each other.
“I will be talking about where we see the city, in terms of recovery and regeneration, and the relationship between the rebuild, reinstatement of assets, and regeneration,” he says.
He will also discuss the Peterborough Quarter development plans, the Metro Sports Facility and the Christchurch Convention Centre.
Justin says 2017 is set to be the year of reconstruction for Christchurch’s CBD, citing recent figures from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) that say the rebuild is already 63 per cent complete.
A Q&A session will be held at the end of the Bayleys@5 event and questions will also be encouraged throughout it.
Bayleys@5 with Steve Clarke is on 17 August at 3 Deans Ave, Riccarton. Drinks and nibbles will be from 5pm, with the main event starting at 5.30pm.
