Ashburton opens to auctions this weekend

The auction spotlight is shifting south to Ashburton this Saturday May 9th with an affordable two bedroom property in Ashburton town and a rare land parcel near Geraldine going under the hammer.

Licensee’s Sue Morton and Nicky Butler with Bayleys Canterbury are excited that South Canterbury is embracing auctions.

“Vendors in the region have shown reluctance towards the auction process up until now. We aim to break down those barriers and lift the lid on how auctions can work to achieve great results and inspire other vendors to think outside the square so that they too can enjoy the many benefits of the auction process,” says Sue.

Sue has taken a fresh look on marketing the Blandswood Road sections in Geraldine using video for the marketing campaign: “Video does this real estate gem absolute pride. It’s far from a bland piece of land to just build on; it’s a slice of kiwi paradise!”

Nicky Butler, marketing the two bedroom property on Nursery Drive says, “There is high demand for properties in Ashburton at the moment and selling by auction creates healthy competition between buyers which is great for the vendor.”

“Competition on auction day lets the market tell the story of where the property currently sits in the absolute current times.”

Nicky’s marketing campaign for Nursery Drive included a local radio advertisement and weekly position in the Ashburton Guardian newspaper which has created steady interest in the property.

“The vendor was interested in trying something new and knows they have nothing to lose by taking their property to auction. The property is affordable and appeals to several markets which opens the floor to competitive buyers on auction day,” says Nicky.

“A number of similar properties have recently sold quickly or before deadline so we are hopeful for an excellent result on Saturday.”

Auctions are to be held on-site at 18A Nursery Drive, Ashburton at 11am and 228 Blandswood Road, Geraldine at 2pm on Saturday May 9th. Contact Sue Morton or Nicky Butler for more information.
