Key national roading projects are tipped to intensify buyer interest in a new industrial hub at a pivotal location midway between Auckland and Whangarei.
Nine freehold sites are now selling as part of a 10-lot light industrial subdivision in the North Auckland town of Wellsford.
Available sections at the new Northlink Industrial Park range in size from 2,600 to 7,500 square metres (more or less), with price expectations from $1,000,000 plus GST, if any.
Earthworks are underway, with utility service connections available to the boundary. Titles are expected to be issued in late 2025 upon subdivision.
Bayleys salesperson Alex Perigo said this gave buyers useful lead time to plan their new premises or a design-build project.
“With direct access to State Highway 1, Northlink combines strategic positioning with functional, well-connected industrial land, offering flexible options for owner-occupiers, developers, and investors with an eye on the future.
“The varying lot sizes provide flexibility for various business operations and development strategies. Light industrial zoning permits uses ranging from warehousing and storage to logistics and light manufacturing.
“Industrial-zoned land is incredibly scarce in North Auckland, underpinning the rarity of this opportunity – while good local retail, service, and food-and-beverage amenities support convenience for future workers,” Perigo said.
Lots at Northlink Industrial Park, located at 119 Centennial Park Road, Wellsford, are being offered for sale by negotiation through Perigo and colleague Henry Napier of Bayleys Real Estate.
Napier said Northlink was positioned for an exciting future thanks to its location in Wellsford, a key regional centre at the crossroads of State Highways 1 and 16.
“This location is well-connected for freight and distribution, supporting regional and national operations – and with massive roading improvements underway, these connections will only get better,” Napier said.
Wellsford sits on the Northern Corridor, a series of government-designated Roads of National Significance joining Auckland and Whangarei.
These are prioritised for major upgrades, which the government says will support economic growth and productivity and improve freight connections across the upper North Island, as well as reducing congestion, improving safety, and supporting housing development.
“Connections with central Auckland, now less than an hour to the south, have already been greatly improved by the new Puhoi-to-Warkworth extension of the four-lane Northern Motorway.
“Pre-construction work is now well underway on the next section, a 26-kilometre four-lane highway from Warkworth to Te Hana, north of Wellsford – including a planned interchange at Wellsford. This will deliver another step change in connectivity, with a contract for construction expected to be finalised by mid-2026.
“Along with further planned upgrades northwards towards Whangarei, these improvements will revolutionise travel and the efficient movement of goods and materials in this part of New Zealand,” Napier said.
