Waimoana a coastal drawcard

The coastal Hawke’s Bay property’s contour lies between medium to steep, with 300ha and 138ha respectively of each, along with 12ha of indigenous bush, and 46ha of flat country around the property’s main dwelling and coastal flats.

Bayleys Waipukurau rural salespeople Andy Hunter and Andy Lee say the property is a tribute to the owners who have been on it for the past seven years and who are now looking at a new venture.

Careful management and reinvestment into Waimoana over the years by the existing owner has resulted in a tidy, well-presented land area, reflecting good levels of maintenance and tidy fences.

Waimoana has been running 3,500 stock units spread across both beef and sheep, including 300 rising one steers, 100 R2 steers and 1,000 ewes, capitalising on the prime breeding country nature of the property’s contour and location.

The property includes all the standard farm buildings and yarding, with a three-stand woolshed and yards, a night pen for 250 ewes and recently upgraded cattle yards on the farm’s western block.

A three-bay haybarn and implement shed complete the array.

Full subdivision is across 38 paddocks defined by a mix of conventional post and batten and permanent new five-wire electric fencing, with the front of the property watered via a reticulated system supplied via a spring. At the rear of the property, paddocks are watered through a good network of natural dams.

Waimoana’s homestead is a tribute to the re-investment made by the existing owners, with its recently renovated and upgraded home a centrepiece for the property.

The main home comprises two bedrooms, an office, two bathrooms, and a true spacious farmhouse kitchen that opens through the lounge to an expansive deck area affording views across the lawn to the Pacific and the farm’s own private beach.

Other accommodation on the farm includes a manager’s home with three bedrooms in excellent condition and a recently arrived three-bedroom property. The additional homes offer the potential to tap into Waimoana’s unique coastal location, offering a homestay or Airbnb option for those seeking some refuge from busy city life in an idyllic rural coastal setting.

“Waimoana is a particularly well-presented property and could offer an opportunity for a younger farmer to step in, knowing there are both farming and tourism income streams possible, and a coastal lifestyle that would be the envy of many farmers keen on the sea,” says Hunter.
