About Rachel

Highly-experienced real estate management professional Rachel Dovey heads up Bayleys Canterbury’s multiple sales teams at an executive level – overseeing the agency’s regional strategic operations in the incredibly diverse residential, rural and lifestyle property markets.

Each of those property sectors operates under different paradigms from its counterpart, and each niche has its own challenges and opportunities. Rachel’s role as General Manager – Sales enables her to take an over-arching view of the various threads which combine to make Bayleys so strong – and allows her to lead and motivate a skilled team of sales managers within Bayleys 15 offices across the Canterbury region and Wanaka.

Embracing Bayleys’ proven marketing mantra of being ‘Altogether Better’, Rachel’s senior management position alongside Bayleys Canterbury chief executive officer Pete Whalan enables her to bring together specialist sales and marketing teams for any scenario to maximise the return of a vendor’s property asset in the most efficient and effective manner.

Concurrently, Rachel is also responsible for growing Bayleys’ already strong presence in Canterbury’s breadth of real estate sectors – including an ambitious target of growing auction sales volumes in the region under a defined and well-honed corporate model which has already delivered market-leading results elsewhere in New Zealand.

Drawing on two decades of management experience in the real estate sales profession, Rachel is widely and intricately involved with multiple aspects of the industry – such as lecturing and mentoring students at the University of Auckland’s business school, as an ambassador with the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand, and promoting the career evolution of women within the industry’s higher echelons.

In the wider business community, Rachel has also been a board member with the Newmarket Business Association - holding the position of board deputy chairperson for three years. She was Bayleys’ Sales Manager of the year in 2011, and a recipient of the Graham Bayley Award for outstanding and unfaltering service to the company in 2015.

Recently returning to her South Island roots after spending some two decades in Auckland, Rachel Dovey now resides in Christchurch.
