Rodger is a specialist Business Broker covering the Hawke’s Bay region.
Rodger recently moved his family to Hawke’s Bay after selling his Auckland waste management business which he started and grew into a multi-million dollar company. Going through the exercise of selling his own business gives Rodger deep knowledge and insight into the process, complexities and emotions involved in exiting a business successfully.
“My objective is to help you, the business owner, realise the best possible outcome by maximising the sale value of your enterprise,” says Rodger. “I know what it feels like to be in your shoes. Your business often represents years of sacrifice and hard work.”
Originally from Gisborne, Rodger studied and worked in production engineering (New Zealand Certificate in Engineering). He then moved into sales, marketing and management positions for office equipment and furniture. Rodger’s entrepreneurial spirit came to the fore in 2000 when he started his own waste management business.
“Everyone thought I was mad but I knew I had spotted an opportunity”, said Rodger. Over 15 years, Rodger grew the business into a successful company with 22 trucks and 60 staff.
Rodger has an easygoing style with solid business acumen. He was a board member of the New Zealand chapter of the global Entrepreneurs’ Organization for two years.
“What attracted me to Bayleys is the strength and integrity of its brand,” says Rodger. “Bayleys’ brand provides my clients with confidence and gives a significant punch to their sales campaign.”
Rodger emphasises that experienced business brokerage helps guide you through the process of selling your business but more importantly, it helps yield a substantially better result and price.
‘We recently used Rodger to buy a new business (Craftys Rods & Guns) and then sell our current business (Mint Restaurant). We found Rodger extremely good to work with. On the buying side he worked well with us and the seller to ensure we both got what we were looking for and communicated well with us through the whole process, making it a very smooth transition for everyone involved.
Putting our Restaurant on the market was a big decision for us and Rodger understood and worked hard to keep us informed of what was happening with interested parties and enquiries. Eventually leading to the sale which was another smooth and well organised transition.
We are very happy we choose to use Rodger and will definitely work with him again if we look at buying or selling.’
